Hey Boxers! So I thought I'd get a thread going here for the restart of this tank, get some feedback... The idea is to redo the tank and eventually put in some nice fire reds, or something Neo. Here's what we've got so far-

    Equip:
Tank- It's a 5g Fluval Chi, modified to be open top (essentially all the guts ripped out) 10'' x 10'' x 12''.
Light- Clip on Fluval 13w, brand spankin new bulb
Filter- We have an AC 30 that was on it previously, but I wouldn't mind getting another mini-canister for this, we'll see.

    Hardscape, etc:
Eco Complete/Brightwell mix- **Changed to: Flourite 'Dark'**
    Ohko-ish stone
    Cholla wood, holla
    alder cones

    Planned Flora:
    Fissidens fontanus
    Fissidens Geppi
    Anchor moss
    mini-xmas moss
bucce: 'Mini-Coin', 'Brownie Red', 'Bukit Green'
    annubias nana micro? Maybe?

    Planned Fauna:
As said, definitely Neocaridina- probably fire reds, and some kind of microfish if we find something we like. Still deciding.

    So, enough lists- pics:
Final scape, I'm going for a rockslide-becomes-mossy/epiphite-rich-bank kinda thing.

The massive-happy-dance-plant order from H4n (amazing seller, btw!).

I've been browsing TPT and getting inspired (famous last words)...
    http://www.plantedta...ighlight=yogurt

And of course, this tank in France which has been my inspiration from the word "go"- http://www.aquascapi...cky-plain.6892/

Did my research, and Roy was on board- we're doing DSM/moss graffiti method to get started. Not sure if I'm insane or it's the best idea I've ever had...we'll see. We skipped the yogurt/beer thing, just chopped moss and added water to paint it on.

    And now we wait!

do you think that chopping up the moss grows it faster? Have you had any experience doing it?

The chopping gives it more places to root and branch from.
This is my first time doing DSM, but if you google 'moss graffiti' or 'DSM blender method', that's the idea.

Very cool. Moss always dies in my tanks.

Sorry, been really MIA on this...it got broken down.
So many tanks, too little time, etc.
Most of the rock got thrown into the Flora, so it wasn't a total waste. Got decent moss growth on most spots, I'll try to put up a pic of what's left in the flora.

Sorry to hear this, but glad y'all were able to use it in another tank after all that waiting. Looking forward to your next attempt down the road!

Meh. You can tell it wasn't scaped for this tank, but it was the best way to save it. The sabwa resplendens seem to like the cover, too.
                            Front-

                            Side view-

And I'm happy the Fissidens Geppi made it...
