Nothing in my opinion. There are way to many VOC's in paint especially in a pressurized can. I would never consider painting any surface that water within the eco system of the tank will come in contact with.

Let it cure and it'll be fine. The only issue I can foresee is that when algae grows on the paint it'll be hard to scrape off without removing the paint

I used Krylon fusion, but definitely let it cure like Josiah said. Mine flaked really bad and ruined my tank

Why would you want to add something to your tank that is a know hazardous substance?

If you do research online, you'll see that many people have used it for considerable amounts of time, with no ill effects. The only difference between me and them is that I got impatient letting it cure

I'm an Environmental Science Professional by trade with hazardous substances experience. Paint is heavily regulated as a hazardous substance. It make absolutley no sense to me why you would want to add something toxic to your tank. Read the fine print on the back of the can or a MSDS sheet and see what it says about the toxics contained in the product and what the human exposure effect is.

I'm just trying to keep someone from what i know to be a very bad mistake.

I understand, and since I'm by no means an environmental science professional, I'm really not in any position to put up an educated argument. All I can say is I've seen countless people use it with no problems, including myself, but only when the paint is fully cured

My comment was not directed at any one person. I am sure many have used paint on the inside of their tanks with no ill effect. But, before you do you might want to research the effects of long term exposure of the paint to water. These paint being talked about are NOT formulated for long trem exposure to water.
I do not think using paint on the inside of a tank is a good idea. This is just my opinion.
We all know that there are many differnt ways to do things.
I hope my first comment did not offend anyone. It was off the cuff and not thought out. I still do not agree with painting the inside of tanks for formentioned reasons. Again this is just M/O

No offense taken here. Personally, I won't ever put paint in any of my tanks again, but for those who do have an urge to use paint in their tanks, I'd rather them be well informed than uninformed

I agree. The sharing of info is what this hobby is (should) be about. If one person can benefit from the many, many mistakes I have made then thats great.
