  • Deepwater Hap hiding sideways under sand

I'm not sure why but my fish are all about 2.5-3" and sometimes the Deepwater (electra) Hap. hides underneath the sand as if they've been startled or something. They lay underneath the sand as if they're dead or something. No one has done anything to my tank and all the other fish seem fine. Anyone have clues as to why this may be?

Are we talking Placidochromis electra? This is normal behavior for some Malawi haps like Nimbochromis livingstonii and Fossochromis rostratus. Although I have never heard of an electra doing this I don't know very much about this species.
