My interest in the carbon filter made me try the DIY that mist did. the cartages are cheep but the housing is cheep too.So I got it too.
Put it all to gether and here is what we learned. Filter
First test water out of the tap.
Second test water from the filter
You can see the ammonia is high in both. Making this filter unexceptable. the carbon will not remove the chloramines.

You have to get a chloramine removing carbon cartridge. Not all carbon cartridge removes chloramine.

The carbon cartridges are the same as the ones Mistahoo used in his DIY carbon filter. I know what catalytic carbon is and what it works on. In fact Catalytic Carbon is what we will need.
The point was to show what doesn't work So no one else will make that mistake.

+1 I used the basic household one because it's very cheap. You can easily fix that by buying the more expensive cartridges if you have chloramine problems. I normally don't have chloramine in the water source, but that's why I still dose safe and went with the basic one to remove chlorine only.

So where to buy the better cartridges?
HD or Lowe's doesn't sale anything better then whats in it.
I should have taken picture of the cartridge too.

I'd have to look into that. I know they exist.

you can find them on amazon, but your talking maybe 45-50$ for the cheaper singles. Hydro Logic makes one for 46$:

But my gowl is to not have to use Chim. at all.
