  • Shark Egg

I've pretty much determined that the first egg was a bad egg, there really isn't any reason it should have died. Or at least, no reason that I know of.

    First Egg: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...d.php?t=518001

    Second Egg: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...-Egg-Round-Two

So, I talked to the man I bought it from, and he said he'll order another one and give it to me free of charge in about a week.
This time, I'm going the extra mile to make sure I do it right. I'm calling this "Operation: Need'a Bigger Boat".
I've set up a 10 gallon tank with R/O I produced, a very thin layer of sand from an older tank, and a couple pounds of liverock from the sump of my reef tank.
I have an airstone in a PVC tube I made to create a small circular current in the tank, and a heater to hold the temp about roughly 76f.

Hopefully I won't have any issues this time.

Any input guys? I'm open to any suggestions

You bought a shark egg instead of the actual shark? Is this a common practice?

Goodluck, never done it myself but many others locally have done it.

I always wanted to try but never had a tank for them after they hatch

Just picked up the egg. I'll update when I get home and begin acclimating

I've done everything right, levels are all perfect, and I drip acclimated for 2 hours.
If this one dies, then I pronounce myself cursed.

Bamboo Shark, Banded Cat Shark, they go by a few different names.

I'm guesstimating between 6-8 weeks till hatch time.
And I'm going to put him into a 75 for a few months after I feel comfortable with him eating in the 10; and then I plan to move him to a 220 once he's between 10-12" in length
