Sadly, it was a last ditch effort. Treating with the go to method of Metro, Clout and a combination of Metro and Clout did not save the WC Murago colony and I noticed that only two or three of the first two dozen fish actually got Bloat, the rest died from what I thought was aggression. When my Moliro colony started dying off one by one, I thought it wouldn't hurt to treat for everything, that is, internal/external parasites, bacterial infections, and fungal infections. That was what it took to get everything under control. So Copper Sulfate, PraziPro, Clout and Metro for parasites, and Binox/Nitrofurazone for bacterial and fungal infections. This last treatment protocol went on for about 3 weeks to hit parasites as they went through their life cycle.

I did a lot of research and brainstorming with mnemenoi and fshfrk to see what's best. Binox/Nitrofurazone and Metro/Clout cover a lot of bacterial infections in addition to the anti internal parasitic properties of Metro/Clout so everything together did wonders.

Now it's back to regular heavy feedings and water changes. Like it should be.

More like an expensive lesson learned It wasn't fun flushing about 50 fish though. Oh well, that's the name of the game ain't it?

Agreed. I think I got some bad bugs with the Murago that got out of hand. Now, when I get WC fish, everybody gets "cleansed" this way, especially my incoming colony of big blue fish. Not worth the risk to not hit them for all issues.

Thought you had them in QT before you moved them in with the moliros

I thought I did too, but that was back when I was only using Metro and Clout which apparently wasn't enough

Yeah, I'm looking into some qt tactics myself, over the years I've gotten to laxed about it and have allowed a bit of trust to enter and that's changing.

                          Indeed it is!

Been looking into all the options in which this ingredient is present for those "just in case" situations.
Also looking up other meds as well which are used for non-fish related issues.

I just remembered that what got me going in this direction was reading QT tactics in SW forums. Most of those guys recommend Prazi, Metro and Melafix. I just replaced Melafix with an Armageddon mix of vet grade antibiotics

SW is some intense stuff... I couldn't be that patient, that's what the toilet is for.

Praziquantel is a beast for this kind of stuff, especially when dealing with fish with a sketchy background or poor origins.
