I am really interested in these fish. Are they sold at any Houston area LFS?

I want small ones for tank compatibility and budget reasons.

HAW has a good selection of discus, but discus needs special care:
              1. They are school fish, thats mean that you need at least 6 or more for your 72g
              2. Temp requierment: 85F-90F, plants are very hard (not impossible) to survive.
              3. Massive water change, if you want healthy discus at least 50-75% WC every second day... daily better.
              4. They are not aggresive at all, they don't like tankmates and since they are not aggresive eaters you don't have to much options.
              5. They need really good filtration, in your 72g at least 2 2217 or similar filters.

If you can do it, man they are really nice. Just my 2 cents.

HAW is your best choice. As an alternative I beleive I saw some the last time I was at Fish Ranch II
                120g - Tropheus Moorii Kambwimba
                180g - Petrochromis Macrognathus Dine/Tropheus Moorii Namansi I

I also would personally only choose HAW for Discus, they probably have the best selection.

HAW but be sure you read up as much as possible on them before jumping if not you could be setting yourself up for failure as they have precise things that have to be done. Also if you get small ones make sure that you follow the water change mentioned above especially because you will need to feed them quite often so they wont stunt.

Didnt mean to scare you away just want to make sure anyone that gets them gets educated. I read a lot about them before I decided and I still had many tribulations that I dealt with.

Discus are REALLY nice i researched and tried to learn as much as i could on them before i jumped in,but in the end i didnt have a big enough tank and i sold em, i had em for 5 months coolest fish i ever kept.

BTW, i researched and read for 7 years before my mom couldnt take it anymore and had to buy me some LOL.

                              The truth hurts.... LOL

Don't sweat it. At that price, Discus were last on my list to fill out the tank. I have plenty other "cheap" fish to buy first.

Maybe by then, I will pluck up the courage.
