It must have fell out of a truck and it was on the side of the road. It's sch 80. the caps for this 8" probably cost $25.00 each. But it would be a beast! Put a mag12 on this and it would make a BIG TIME filter.

Been there done that. I used a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depo and man it worked out well in my friends 125 gallon tank. I did almost the same thing what they did but used a pond pump that was like 900+ gph. Making your own filter is always fun and at the end of the day... You're proud of what you did to make the fishes happy!

I like this thread. I'm a hands on person and like to make things. For my 55 gallon i'm using a 2 gallon canister, and a 530 GPH pump...Ha Ha Ha...who needs to spend 300 bucks on a high end filter.

I am in the process of trying to come up with a pvc filter design myself. Found this cool web site with all kinds of fittings. I just recently finished a diy overflow, was inspired by Johns. I made mine a self starting siphon and will post pics soon.

Don't buy from Amazon, they do not sell FlexPVC, they sell imitators. See our selection of flexible PVC pipes, fittings, clamps, corners, hoses, cement, primer, tools and much more today! At FlexPVC, 90% of our PVC pipe and plastic pipe fittings are made in the USA. We offer wholesale discounts on flexible PVC pipes and accessories.
