  • FREE / Trade...Sailfin Mollies - ALL GONE

I want to rehome my last group of Sailfin Mollies.
I have limited tank space, and have several spawns to grow out in the coming months.
    I have:
    3+ months: 2 Platinum females,1 Marbled male
2+ months: 2 Marbled males,2 Marbled females, 4 Dalmation females (females may turn to male up to 3+ months)
2 months: several juvies - Marbled, Platinum, Dalmation

I also have a few Green Wagtail Platy females I raised, they've dropped a small spawn already, and they are going to have a few more babies soon. I have 2 or three females to a good home.

While a trade would be ok, I would rather place them in a nice aquatic home than do "business". A Pleco or Cory trade would be nice, but not required.
Be aware these are not the usual LFS quality Sailfin, these are very beautiful fish and should grow at least to 3-4" at maturity. Bred and raised in my tanks.

How do you have them housed right now?  Are they all in the same tank?

No...males in the male tank, females in the female tank, juvies in the juvie tank.

Well, that's one way to sort them....lol.

I was looking to add to the those you gave me already.  I'm looking to keep them in one tank.  I'm about to try my hand Killies so all my small tanks are gonna be full soon or at least I hope so.

I keep them seperate for different reasons.
The males look so cool showing their sailfins all the time, showing the other guys how macho they are; no fighting since there are no females.
The females don't stay pregnantall the time, I can select which fish to breed to which fish...color or size choice.
The juvies I keep apart so as to keep the actual females "virgin" 'til they are at least 4 months old, to start breeding. Since my best males turn around 3 1/2 months or later, I seperate the early males from the juvie tank and at 3 months put the girls in the chick tank.
A lot of folks put 1 male with several females and later are amazed at how many fry they have. In a bigger tank males don't fight as much with females in there as well, but I think males displaying a sailfin and swimming around are really nice to watch...without all the battles. I have 25+ males in a 55, total harmony.

            Phil,

Its got to be like prison time for those 25 males.  They might not ever want a female again...

They seem to work through the problem when I put them in my Elvis Memorial Love Chapel (the 20) with a few girls; it takes about 3/10s of a second for them to start chasing the girls.
The dance is a sight to behold, and they don't stop trying for days.
Mature males live for 1 thing, and we all know how that is...don't we, guys?
