  • freshwater stingrays.

    Hey Guys,
     I just saw a  freshwater stingrays at the LFS. the rays look so cool and would be nice in my aquarium,but I am nto sure if they ll get along in my malawi tank.please advice..

    Wow, I wish I could speak from experience, but can't. I've never even thought of it. What kinds of stingray was it? I would worry about the cichlids pecking it to death.

      I have no idea..it just say fresh water stingrays and look just like the salt water rays..

          semper,
          I am not sure what kind of stingrays. the label just said " frshwater stingrays $119"..I am not sure the name of the LFS,but it right of the 45 @FM 1960...are these Rays illegal in texas? cuz i know stingrays are illegal in most part of the country.

              stingrays are illegal in texas , you can get fined up to $5,000 per stingray

                  you have to have an import license to keep them, which most of us don't, it used to be a 3 year prison sentence, but they have let up some.  an online buddy from another forum was caught, he lost his tank and was fined $5,000 per.

                          I just stop by and talked to the owner of the LFS..the type of stingray that he cary is LEGAL in the state of texas .all other ray from africa or south america is illegal..

                              No I didnt,but according to the owner.The stingrays that he have there on a regular basis is raised from florida.any other kind of stingrays would be illegal.there only 1 kind  and only 1 kind of stingray that can be sale in the state of texas..I was tempted to buy it,but he sais the tank have to be  at least 100G and the only tank mate he can have is catfish or arowana..
