    Hey guys,

This is my first saltwater experience. I have been researching for years and finally decided to take the plunge. I will be doing a nano reef in my room and am so excited about this. Hoping to find some live rock/sand/coral frags from members on the box.

I ordered new bulbs so I know they will not be faded or anything. Also ordered a duckbill for the output until I get a koralia. I plan to do the cheato refugium with one of the filter slots in the back of the tank. They make a nice little magnetic light that attaches or an in water light for the cheato. I also want to run a bag of purigen. The tank is coming along nicely I should have it ready for live rock/sand today or tom.

I would love to hear some advice as far as stocking goes. I think the current light set up should be good for 12 gallons. 2x24 PCs 50/50. Please throw out some ideas for stocking...

    I was thinking:
    fire fish
    clownfish
    some type of goby
hope to catch some peppermint shrimps from galveston

    Corals:
    frogspawn
    waving hand
    kenya tree

Please throw out advice, suggestions, etc... Want to hear it!

Today I wired new fans in the hood. The old ones were noisy so I got 2 Silenx 60mm pc fans. They are freaking silent! Tom i will pick up some live rock and get this party started. The bulbs are actually 6700k but I have 2 replacement 50/50 bulbs on the way. Also have a rotating duckbill ordered. Sand is 20lbs of caribsea premium pink figi live sand. Here is the tank:

Wow the tank is starting to come together! Big Thanks to jeb102385 (Jacob) for hooking me up with some awesome rocks. I got a 3 spot Damsel fish to keep the cycle going. One mexican Turbo snail also. Tank looks sooooo much better with rock in it. Little bit of Chaeto in the back. Now for the pics....

Nice rockwork and lay out. I would like to try our hand at a saltwater nano eventually, just need to get a bit more motivated.

Yeah he swims around like he is cracked out, random darting and stuff. Deff different behavior than any of my freshwater. I picked him because out of the 5$ fish I like the way he looked the best. Needed to keep the cycle going, worst case he won't be a big loss if I have to get rid of him.

I have always wanted saltwater. Been wanting to do it and reading about it for years. When I saw this nano cube for cheap I thought f it, lets do this! If I can get this little nano stable as a proof of concept a big reef tank should be even easier.

                  Update...

Got some new stuff, I now have 2 types of polyps a green one with orange in the center, and an orange/rust polyp. 1 2 headed torch that is green and purple. One of the heads got damaged in shipping and may not make it. Got a purple striped brittle star and a Firefish. Don't have the damsel anymore so no worries with it harassing anyone. Got like 16 Nassarius snails, 4 more smaller turbo snails, and a camel shrimp. I know the camel shrimp are sometimes listed as not reef safe so I will keep an eye on him. Brian at 3CC is keeping them in one of his big display tanks and they do no bother his corals. I think they are kind of like peppermint shrimp, for some people they bother corals for some they do not. Anyway I dosed purple up just now so tank is foggy I will get new pics soon. Man I am lovingggg the saltwater! I may just have to buy Jacobs tank when he breaks it down. Big thanks to Jacob for hooking me up on the order!

So I re-scaped my rock work a week ago because after reading about how destructive those camels can be I banished him to my sump. Did not want him to hurt any of my new corals. Then I decided that was pointless and threw him to my fahaka who ate him in two bites. So my rock work is a little different and I got a koralia 240 in the nano running with the Hydor duckbill. Flow is much better. Need to get a pic of the firefish. New brittle star is really cool looking also.

Pics taken today, I added a frogspawn in the middle, and a torch down on the left. Also added a pair of gobies, not sure what type exactly and a cleaner shrimp :

I know i like to jump the gun on setting up a salt water tank but if i was you i would be worried about the high end coral you have, i never saw any pictures with diatoms and the rock looks like dry rock.

Exactly what deep said. Plus there is absolutely no way ur gonna get any flow though the rocks all stacked up like that...in a 12g tank less is more...
