  • Internal overflow

I'm looking at adding an internal overflow to my existing tank as my current pvc/strainer isnt stable enough. The strainer clogs easily and the water levels rise/lower often. How difficult would it be to install an internal overflow on a running tank? Obviously I'd have to lower the water level so that I can work on it but does the glass need to be 100% dry? Is there any sanding involved to make it so silicone can adhere better?

Dry yes. Sanding No. You will need for the water level to be below the fresh silicone for 24 hours so it can dry. If it's a w/d, run a small pump from your sump so your media stays wet and your bacteria does not die.
