  • Halp!!

Ok my Striped Goby just ate it. I did a water change 2 days ago.
    No nitrates no nitrites.
My pH was high 7's now its 8.3-8.4.
    Salinity is 1.023.

My zoas not open much. A little bit but not much.

Any ideas of what killed him? My skrimp and snail seem ok.

I think we can safely say it was you!

Now if only we knew it was with the candlestick in the library or...

I keed. I would think the shrimp would be more sensitive to water params (than the goby so it might not be water params) but I could be wrong on that. If I'm right then it may have been an internal thing with him. Is it a pistol shrimp? Maybe he shot the goby? I'm being serious now.

Max size is 1" so if it was around that size then maybe. How long had he been in that tank?

couple weeks. He was about 1-1.25 so maybe he was old. But I am just wondering about my zoas being half opened. They have been closed most of the day.

Does it have a yellow belly or is it clearish?

Its possible you have a camelback shirmp which tend to eat soft corals and there seems to be suspicion about them eating gobies as well. I'm trying to look more into it

problem with deaths like this is that most of these guys are wild caught, and are most likely adults when captured, so there really is no way of knowing...

Your salinity is a little low. Usually 1.026 is preferred. Maybe bring it up a bit slowly.
