  • M42 - Orion's Nebula

    Nikon D7000 - Celestron F6.3 reducer - Celestron Advanced C8-SGT on a CG-5 tracking - Processed in LR3.6

These were the best two from last night:

    1

    2012-12-18 - Orion (1 of 2) by The Fantastic G, on Flickr
    30 sec - ƒ/9.5 - ISO 3200 - 2000 mm

    2

    2012-12-18 - Orion (2 of 2) by The Fantastic G, on Flickr
    20 sec - ƒ/6.3 - ISO 800 - 2000 mm

I think I'm off to a good start. I need to practice a lot on the processing side though with these. I don't have to do that much processing with my macro images like I do with these.

      M42 - Orion's Nebula

If you take up astrophotography you will. The C8 SGT and CG-5 was $1600. Plus the cos of the battery pack, super laser pointing for alignments, heater strips, and more. I ended up spending $2100 after all the accessories. Was a pimp arse Christmas for my Wife in 2011, but now I want a C14 SGT to take images with. Also makes me want a D600 or 6D.

        That's my problem, I don't do hobbies half-arsed.

I dream of a time where we can light up our surroundings in the evening/night in such a manner that greatly reduces light pollution so that we can look at the skies and actually see what the Greeks saw so as to name our galaxy the "Milky Way".

To get that view now you have to drive to Big Bend National Park.

              Thanks, Hangman.
