  • Anenome Split?

To me it looks like my RBTA is splitting. Is this from the stress of having to change tanks over the weekend, or is he just happy? He doesn't look upset to me from his coloring, or tentacles.
And before you ask....yes, I turned that powerhead off.

In my experience they split due to stress, but that doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. My anemones split if a hermit crab knocks a frag onto it, or if you just look at them wrong.

      Thanks.
Guess I'll have two mouths to feed now.

        Congratulations drew,

Most likely from the change to your tank this past weekend.

        Finally some positive news

It seems it took long enough, but my RBTA finally completed it's split yesterday.

My Anenome split 3 times, all dued to stress/ changes in its surrounding. The 1st 2 times after I moved them. The last time after I poked a net into it to catch a clown fish.

I have one that is 12" across and does not split since I have not touched it in a year.

Out of curiosity, do they experience a little light sensitivity after splitting? Before it loved my lighting, now both are cowering in the shadows.

When my anenome split under stress, they hid for 2+ weeks.

I had one emerge yesterday! Returned home from work and one was basking in the light. Hopefully the other will soon join him.
