  • HELP!! anenome sucked into a powerhead.. is it a a lost cause?

so i put the new bubble tip in the tank yesterday and he moved from place to place, at about 11 i turned off the lights. Woke up 8 hours later and turned the light on and first thing i notice was the water was cloudy, then i noticed the new anenome was hanging out the power head, looks like it chewed about 40 percent of him up. but the rest of him is still bright and attached the the backside of my live rock, do i peel him off and toss him, to prevent further decay in the tank or can they heal from this at all?

depending but if you do a good water change, minimize stress it should heal.

I've cut RBTAs before. You sure water params are good and stable prior to the mishap?

naw, I would really think you should do a water change if it's with pre-made water.

all that stuff floating around is gonna destroy water quality

Yeah do WC and add carbon if you can. Is there other corals/fish in the tank?

there are no corals, just a couple fish,, a yellow tang, a niger trigger, a clown, and a damsel, and a few hermits and a couple star fish, i have over 150 pounds of live rock and it is a 55 gallon, with the amount of live rock i have im not too worried about an ammonia spike but i will do a 20 percent change today anyways

UPDATE,, the bubbles on the part that is left are huge now, not sure if this is a good or bad sign

The amount of LR wont matter in controlling amonia spike if there is more ammonia dumped in than the bacteria can handle. There is only enough bacteria in the system to consume the amount of ammonia that is produced if more is added then the bacteria will multiply but that isnt instantaneous. This is why we suggest a WC and carbon to help remove the toxins and ammonia.
