  • To drill or Not to drill

I'm working on a 40 tall. I finished painting the back this evening.

What I'm wanting to do is drill the holes for my return line. And, I can't find the video on Youtube but, I saw one where the guy Only used the over flow part of the box, instead of the whole hang on part. He drilled out the box on the bottom, then ran the bulkhead thru the box and tank.

I hope this made sense. It gives it a very clean look in the tank. I myself don't like thing's hanging on or in the tank for that matter.

So, has anyone tried this? Next question is. Is there anyone close to Sugarland that can help me drill my tank?

Thanks. I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong spot. It will be a Fowlr tank soon.

City pets is the best bet for drilling the tank or do it yourself just get a dummy tank to pratice on first its not to hard o did it to my 29 Sump for my float valve

It depends on whether you have tempered glass or not.

I read about Tempered glass. Most companies, not saying all , only use Tempered glass on the bottom of there tanks. But, they label it as tempered glass.

Just start drilling it, you'll know almost instantly if it's tempered.
