  • Assassin snails doing the "nasty" question.

Do Assassins actually mount each other when sexually reproducing or have mine turn cannibal?

Might be hard to see but there is a smaller one pushed into the sand while the larger is mounted on top....

I see that all the time. I have only found one dead out of 75 so far. I have often wondered the same thing.

Mine do this also. I haven't lost any out of 80. I don't understand why they do this but I would guess breeding.

I've never seen them multiply, just dwindle down in numbers in my past tanks as well.

When they breed in my experience the twine together for a while, than little ones appear. Kinda like that stork thing. :-) They will canabalize each other if they are not getting enough food. The young ones stay in the sand mostly, maybe for this reason?

Before I never noticed due to the fact that I had loaches in the tank but it never interest me till now.
