  • Cant RCS and tiger shrimp interbrees

    can tigers and cherry reds go in same tank? or do they interbreed? i know you are not supposed to mix same species.. to prevent hybrids

    looking for info on compatiable shrimp species.. for my CHERRY REDS>. i was thinking crystals..

    They are different Genus.

    Cherry's are Neocaridina

    Tigers are Caridina

      ok.. thats what i thought.. so that would be same thing with crystal red/cherry reds.. sweet!! good to know :)

          i have cherry reds.. its first shrimp tank.. i really wanting to get crystals.. i only just found out this info about the different species.. :)

          but i from what i understand.. i need to have softer water for crystals.. is that true? or is clean tap water.. ok>?

              I am not sure about the crystals in tap water I haven't kept them yet. But I know you keep discus and i am pretty sure the water needed to keep discus healthy and happy will be more than good enough for CRS...

                yea.. i would probably move that tank over to RO water.. i don't have crystals yet.. but i hope to get some in soon :) so i'll start doing some water changes to change water over :)

                  any live plants? They aren't necessary but my shrimp love them...

                    i have anubias, java fern. java moss and frogbit
