  • My First Discus

    This post was one year ago and they have since died and I learned a valuable lesson.

    They look tons better and happier in my tank slowly exploring and one actually ate a little tonight. I hope I did the right thing I guess we will see.
    just know.. they will never grow much.. they are stunted.. due to genetics but mostly lack of proper nutrition.. you should have spent you money on a better quality fish.. as long as you know they are low quality.. then you will be happy with them..

      Good job on the rescue. Yeah they look kinda stunted and skinny.
      They should fill in a little bit, chances are that by this stage they are going to remain pretty stunted. That one oval pigeon will probably never be nice and round.
      They also have a lot of pepper, which is not necessarily a bad thing but some people hate pepper.

      But that is not to say they won't make great family pets.
      Discus have a lot of character and will even let you pet them once they get used to you. I'm sure you'll enjoy them.
