tunze water pumps

I got a tunze 6025 yesterday and it seems really noisy. I can hear it rattling outside of the tank and if I put my ear on the tank the thing is really noisy.

Is this common for this line of pumps?

I have this same ph modded on my 75g.

It's over 3 years old. No rattling. I can't say it's a common problem but there are a number of reports on other forums. Have you check the impellor magnet? Any damage to it then it will rattle. Also, is the case rattling? Might just need to snap on properly.

Jason,

Make sure to also see if it was modded. If it was modded the ceramic shift will pop in and out when there is a power cut.

If it's not modded then I recommend doing it! Flows like a beast.

I got it new, yesterday from City Pets (Thanks CP!!!) so I'm sure it hasn't been modded. I'll google the mod and check it out.

First SW tank in 10 years!

Mod is super easy. Just use a dremel and cut out the black plastic ring on the inside. I got one if you need to borrow it.

You should do a small write up on the step by step process and post some pictures. I know you get that DSLR! :)
