I am thinking of starting a mantis shrimp tank.

Is their a species that stays small enough for a 2.5g standard glass tank?
    its 12" L x 6" W x 8" T.

for filtration im thinking 2x red sea nano hob filters.
for heating stealth pro 10watt heater.
    5lbs. of live sand (aragonite).
5lbs. of fiji or tonga live rock.
diy led fixture (6 2" strips of 3 1 watt pure white leds, 3 2" strips 3 1 watt blue leds, and 3 2" strips of another color tone not yet picked out.
im going to mount them on strips of t5 reflectors attached to the inside of a stainless 12"x4" reflector running on 3 9v dc adapters.

for a background im thinking of trying to grow a gsp carpet on the back wall.

please, any advise you can give is appricited.

i think most people go with at least a 10 gallon tank. unless your mantis shrimp is tiny. Also consider red leds, i think I heard they can't see red that well or something. Some people use red leds to view the tank at night without disturbing the inhabitants.

If it's small you can keep it in that size tank.

Holla at jim. He has one in his 90p.
I ate my fish that died.

        Aight, cool.

        I appreciate it guys.
I have a 2.5 and a 10g I was going to use the 2.5 cause it would be easier to keep up with.

But 10g isnt that much larger.

Tran at fish ranch has a large 6-7" peacock mantis (not sure if it's for sale). I was in there yesterday talking with him about it. I commented that I'd never seen one feed so he threw in a snail. Uhhhh...I would HATE to get nailed by that thing. Beautiful critter though

I was thinking about one, as well. Either the peacock or zebra. . .
Tell your boss you need to go home to take care of your "cichlids." It sounds an awful lot like "sick kids." )
