go deeper to 4ft if you can, it gets hot in houston.
the deeper depth will keep the water cooler.
koi get stressed when water temps get above 85.
going deep also helps to keep the water warmer in the winter (not that it gets that cold) it will help minimize the temperature swings that stress koi.Duc
