Probably a little more relevant to me, since I grew up, and continue to be, a fan of the Detroit Tigers. Still, if you're a fan of baseball and have watched for awhile, you'll know who he is.
For those who do not know, Sparky Anderson passed away.
Great manager, one of my all-time favorites. People have just had glowing things to say about him as a person functioning as an ambassador of baseball. It's a sad day for the Tigers (and Reds!) families, and baseball in general. If you asked me who my favorite Tiger all-time is. . . Sparky.
3 WS (the first manager to win a WS in each league), 5 pennants, 6th all-time in wins.
