  • What's this growing on my live rock?

    Hey guys, just finished setting up my aquarium a few days ago. I noticed something growing on the live rock today and dont know if its good or bad.

    Looks like a zoa but most likely an aipstasia.

    Can you post more pictures from another angle?
    I ate my fish that died.

      thats the only pic for now that he took... the tank isnt more than 5 days old and that grew out of nowhere... are those aipstasias bad?

                If you don't have anything in your tank the just take that piece of live rock out and dry it out or boil it. That or target it with boiling hot water in a syringe.

                    From the new picture it does look like a mejano. Most will say they are pest. They can move around and sting some corals.

                    Personally, I think some look cool. I would grow it out a little and see which color it takes. If it's a nice color morph you might want to consider keeping it.

                    You can always kill it later.

                      Too late I already removed it from the tank. It was moving from one spot to another though. Anyways.. thanks for the info guys!
