  • Alamo Stone

I went out to Alamo Stone off of Kirkwood near HAW and bought some really cool rocks. The employees were very friendly and eager to help. Everything is laid out in real nice, neat stacks with names and prices on each. They have everything from small gravel to giant bolders. I got over 300lbs of rock for under $30.

If you are looking for some unique rocks for your home or office aquarium, or you want to rescape your lawn, go check out Alamo Stone.

I live not far from there, and I've thought about stopping there before. I have about 500 pounds of holey rock that I got several years ago in Austin, and all of it was bought at a landscape supply place that is very similar. It's definitely the cost effective way to go, as long as you know how to clean it.

What kind of rock(s) did you come away with?

I dont remember the exact name of the rock but its black and white and almost looks like it has quartz in it. Its really pretty and i've never seen it in an aquarium before. My brother picked up some green canyon rock from them as well for under $20. This place was really cool.

FYI, it it is indeed quartz be careful! Quartz can cut up your glass real easy.
