  • new led fixture at home depot

hey everyone, just a heads up, i work at home depot, and we got in a work light by husky, it has 180 1watt leds they have a 14k color and shimmer, i will upload pics tonight, the main fixture itself is aprox. 8.5"x8.5".
    its bright as all he**.

i think it would be sweet for a a small coral tank, like a 30g cube or such.

i am buying one for my sw nano when i have the funds, its only $59.99
the leds have 100,000 hours of run time.

you can remove all the parts from the fixture ie, legs base and all, and just have the fixture itself.

its got a super bright polished aluminum reflector.

i would love to see someone give this a try.

give me a second, im going to upload the pics.

this thing is ridiculously bright, it blows the 500 watt halagen next to it away.
also, it has a recharchable feature, it holds 3.5 hours on a charge, so if the lights go out, you still have light for your tank.

also, i ran it yesterday for 9 hours, and it produced no heat, the fixture was still cool to the touch.

the light is actually much more blue in person, these pics were takin with my iphone, so they are the best.

but trust me, this thing will blind you.

also, it says recharable, but it is plug in aswell.
it has a switch on the back, and it bult like a rock.

Thanks for sharing Brian, just saw that it is rechargeable, I wonder if it could be wired for 110?

also, picture 2 is the fixture with all of the hardware detachted, its essentially just a standard ligth with the removal of a few screws.

                its a beast!

Someone needs to buy one and take it apart and see the practicality of implementing this on an aquarium

i agree, i wouldnt put it over an established coral tank without testing ti first, but i just thought i woudl share, this seems like a ridiculously good price if it actually works like a regualr aquarium led light.

I was talking to newb about these but the down side to it is it is rechargable and you cannot put a timer on it but it does have a manual switch

Cant you just have the timer turn off 2 hrs before so that the backup feature would drain?

gotti, these have a manual switch on the back of the fixture, they are recharbable, but also will plug in and run like any other light.

a timer will work on these.

im going to get one for the ada tank im going to be looking for.
