Has any thought been given to some kind of feedback system or rating for when transactions take place between boxers ?

How hard is it to do ?

What does it cost ?

Just wondering, I think we need it!

This is just another website that has something like I am talking about, see the link.

I think that's a disaster waiting to happen (for me). I can only imagine how many angry PMs I'd get about 'unfair' ratings.

BTW - I don't have an account at that forum, so I can't see the rating system.

Ah...like on Aquabid.

Let me think about it. I'm not making anymore changes until after the main software upgrade...which I might do around Christmas. We can revisit this after that, k?

I was just curious to see what everyone else thought on the subject

I'm against it as well.....to me the box has evolved into a pretty good place to gather information and socialize with like minded individuals. The more you tweek with things, the harder it is to keep them working/running smoothly....

I think the rating system is fine on a national level, but in a group of close nit members, it could have diverse results ...

I would like to see this happen as well. Maybe make a thread with a statement stating that all ratings are final and that you cant change them. Obviously, if the two people dont agree on something...then thats probably why the deal was a bad one to begin with.

Something like ebay ratings, correct? I dont have a problem with it may be good for newbies to get a feeling on whether someone is fair or not. But I will let god decide

I vote no, because transactions can be very highly opinionated and someone would have to referee...

simple example; a newbie buys a fish from a member here, he does not know how to introduce it to his tank, and somehow the fish dies, he may blame the fault to the seller and give the seller bad feedback. Thats not fair.
I vote "no" to this.

Instead of this, what about a points system like other forums have, and instead of positive and negative, ONLY positive points. Similar to the thanks button but a little more specific and it would keep a running total next to the person's name.

I say only positive that way if you disagree with something someone writes you just don't do anything and there is no harm. However, if you do agree with something someone says then you give them a point.

I wish we had this sometimes rather than clicking the thanks button, mostly because "thanks" isn't exactly how I feel but that I do agree with a person - and also because when you use this system only the person you give the point to can see it in their User CP, so its somewhat anonymous.

i vote no as well,
private transactions are just that "private", as adults it should be handled in such a way that the two individuals come to a happy agreement, i think the key word i'm looking for is "perception", one persons perception of an indivduals actions may very well be interpreted totally different by another individual there by allowing for bad things to happen if one puts their opinion/perception out on the forum to be battered with others perceptions, by putting "opinions"/"ratings" on the site it would most likely lead to bad feelings and nasty discussions about individuals...Traci has set up a nice forum to allow for selling, discussing, and overall socializing for the fish hobby that we all share.....i vote for it to stay with just a "thanks" button....

I think its a good idea but if everyone doesnt want it fine. A transaction can be kept private but if someone was good and went out of there way to be kind then I would like everyone to know that. And on the same note if someone was being a **** and screwed someone then I think it is fair to warn anyone else. This system seems to work for all of the other sites so why wouldnt it work here? All the other sites require you to work with the seller/buyer to clear the issue before giving negative feedback and we should promote the same.

I think the current system works good. Just from talking to people and being an active member of this forum I know who to deal with and who not to. Word of mouth is pretty dang big.

I agree, and also vote 'no.' I think the feedback system works well on other sites because it's more of a feedback system for how well the seller ships the item, if it was shipped in a timely manner, how good their communication with the buyer was, and how the fish/plants/whatever arrived (i.e. alive, in good condition, etc.) On a local forum those issues become moot. Shipping's not usually involved, the condition of the fish/plants is able to be ascertained by the buyer when the items are bought, etc.

Like Peter (and others) said, I think HFB's good like it is. :D
