I was wondering if i needed to do anything special to my water if i put a Tanganyikan Puffer in with my Fronts. I always wanted a Puffer but I only keep Tanganyikan fish. Then i found out there were Tanganyikan Puffers, so i'm gonna try to get my hands on one. Can I keep one with my Fronts? Do they require anything special?

I don't know which puffer exactly you're referring to, but I'm going to guess the answer is no. Most puffers need species only tanks and do not play well with others. If you're referring to a MBU they need like a 300g all by themselves. :)Karen

yep, puffers usually do not play well with other tank mates. Eventually the puffer is going to taste the other fish.Merritt Adkins

Just curious why does the puffer need a 300G by its self?

because they reach over 2 and a half feet long and can be much bigger around than a football. with the amount of food it takes for a fish that huge you would need plenty of water, excellent filtration and a big enough tank to grow him out in.Haiku's are easy
But sometimes they don't make sense

So the ones they sell at stores are babies then? Because they are usually only a few inches long.
