  • acclimating nerites back to SW

Anyone got experience with acclimating nerites snails that have been living in FW back to living in SW.

I know that I should do it slowly, but what does "slowly" really entail?

Thanks for the help in advance.

I haven't been on all weekend! A bit of withdrawal...Phew!

I hate that no one has succeeded in doing this. :( I've never done it myself, and I'd rather someone with experience answer this. :) But, since they're olives, and those naturally occur in SW (Galveston, for instance) I think that they should be okay. As for what is meant by "slowly," I don't really know, either. But if it were me, I would add a bit of marine salt to their tank (or a small QT tank if you've got one laying around) daily. You said 1.024, right? I'd probably adjust the salinity by about 0.003 - 0.004 per day until you get to your target. Maybe even every other day.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help. :( But, that's what I would do. Kind of like acclimating mollies to SW.
