  • What to breed in a 55 gallon?

I am soon purchasing a 55 gallon long standard tank, and am looking for suggestions on what to breed. I simply cannot decide. I've done a load of research on each species, I just need opinions at this point..so here's what its narrowed itself down to:

A pair of Jack dempseys (Regular, or EB)
    A speices of peacock (1m/3-5f)
Several(Maybe 3) mbuna trios (Not precise on species currently)
A small colony of dubs (not likely due to money)
A species only of cyprichromis (unsure of what variation)

Which set up would you recommend?

Or would you have a better idea?
Currently fishless, but a proud mama to a musk turtle hatchling.

The Dubs would hate you in the 55 (you need a 75 min because its 18" deep not 12 like the 55).
Of what you have listed there I really like the Peacock, mbuna setup, or a cyp colony.
What will make for the most interesting territory and fight wise.. the Mbuna. Colorful male - peacock, most interest in study the Cyps.

    Just my 2 cents

    What fish do Jesper have
180 WC T. Moorii Chilambo +1 Petro trewavasae.
    110
Cyps, WC Xeno Spilopterus Kipili WC/F1/F2 T. sp red Kiku
    58 S. Decorus

          ) Tetras
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

              for action...i'd do the cyps.
for attitude and personality...i'd do some calvus or comps.
i know you didnt list calvus or comps, but you could throw some cyps in with them!!!

Thanks Zulaab! I'd pretty much already decided against the dubs, for price and the size of the tank, simply wouldn't want to risk it..

Myjohnson: I'll look into some apistos :)

cichlid1409: I am truly in love with these guys, I'm still debating..

                PhishPhreak: No way xD

Aggrocichlidfan: Would consider, but there's no way I could make it to friendswood to get them :(

ruus: Shall consider adding some calvus if I do cyps :)
