  • Woohoo! wild RSG spawn

OK, before someone throws the "this thread is useless without pics" smiley, I tried to get pics and my POS camera wouldn't focus on the filter uplift tube.

My big male turq and one of my wild RSGs spawned this afternoon. I got home from work and saw them hanging around in the back corner and the female was diligently chasing away the other discus. I knew they'd paired and finally found the eggs on the filter uplift tube...a very small plaque of about 20 eggs. I spent 20 minutes trying to get my stupid camera to focus right and I think I spooked Bully because he started pecking the eggs. When I got home from the driving range they were all gone. BUT...they spawned!! If they look like a good pair I'll either move them to a breeder tank or buy a spawning cone for the 125 and pull the eggs when they spawn. I'm so stoked!

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

i should move the pair now instead of waiting to pull the eggs out later. first, you can control the water condition for the eggs ( ppm,....) whenever they spawn. second, you don't scare the pair when you move them out to protect the eggs later.

Okay, I will probably bang my forhead on the wall when you tell me, but what does "RSG" stand for?

Thanks. And congrats on the spawning! Hope they do it again soon! :)
