This isn't a carp, the mouth is wrong. I'm guessing it's a Red Shiner, Notropis lutrensis.

Cyprinella lutrensis. :) AWESOME aquarium fish! You caught some last time you posted pictures, too. If you get a group, they are a great and active and beautiful fish. Especially when the males are feeling...frisky. :)

Back in the 70s they were considered threatened and you couldn't keep them. A game warden caught me with a bait bucket full of them while I was catfishing at the Texas City reservoir. He didn't give me a ticket but he did make me dump them out.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

Some dishonest, or misinformed, stores have been known to sell these guys as African Rainbow barbs or Rainbow danios.

                    How much did you catch?

                    Do they school closely?
