Carbon filters take any chemicals out of the water. This would remove Chlorine and Chloramines. This will ensure you get basically pure water out of your water hose. This stops the need to add chemicals to break down your chlorine in your tanks when you add water.

It really does work! Last time I was out there we tested the water. No chlorine!

does this screw directly into your kitchen sink? If so...how much for a 50ft'r? And, how often would you change out the carbon?

25 ft is plenty. use quick connects for hoses. get some hach chlorine reagents to test for chlorine. We need to do a group buy on these. I'm not positive it removes chlorimines but a chemist friend of mine swears activated carbon removes total chlroine but the whole house water filter people say it does not. I don't know but I know it removes lots of other bad stuff too. I will always run my replacement water thru carbon and use my zipp drops. But this all changes when the CHLORIMINES show up so get ready people!!!!
We will see a blood bath then. the old dechlorinaters you could over dose. sodium thiosulfate. the new stuff is sodium bisulfite (to remove chlorimines) Like amquel+ or the new stress coat+. It will remove the oxygen from the tank like 10 times what the old thio did.

                          look under disadvantages

If you made a 25ft you will need to change out the carbon about once 3-4 years, and with a 50ft you are looking at about 6-7 years before you should need to change it out. At 50ft I am thinking it should become cumbersome to deal with.
