  • Dovii twiching!

I have a 6" male Dovii in a 75 gal by himself, and lately he's been buggin out! He seems to be having a seizure or something. I know some fish do this when trying to mate, but he's the only fish in the tank. I was just wondering if anyone knows what it might be. I'm running two 2217's on the tank, and the water par. are near perfect. Any help is much appreciated, Thanks.

Man, that's what i was thinkin(reflection). I haven't seen any kind of parasite, but i went ahead and treated the tank w/ heat and salt, but he's still doing it. Seems to be yawning alot too, but i know there is plenty of o2 in the water.

the yawnign might just be him trying to catch his breath from all the action.

thats what i would think. maybe his nuts dropped and now he's ready to rule his tank.

He doesn't charge the glass, seems real skittish, and lost some color. I don't know what the hell it is, seems like somethins wrong though.

I had a full grown dwarf pike in w/ him, and the pike put a pretty good whoopin on him. The pike is gone now, but it seems to have started at that time.

I would hit the tank with some melafix and pimafix to make sure. Let it be in there for 72 hours and then do a massive water change. Repeat again and then see after another 72 hours what his colors are like.
