  • Kili eggs

Ordered some daphnia last night from Aquabid and the seller is including some killi eggs......

    Help

Do I need to do anything before they arrive ?
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

From the readings I have done it sounds like you got a package deal.

Depending on what kind of Killi eggs, you can keep them up to 6 months or longer before setting out to hatch them. Usually ship in a small ziplock with peat. So no hurry.

There are plant spawners whose eggs hatch in 2 weeks

I was given my choice of
        lineatus gold
        Gardneri UDI mountain
        Gardneri Lafia Gold
        Epiplatys dageti
        Aphyosemion straitum lambarene

        Any recomendations ?

One of the great things about this hobby is that there is always something you haven't tried before.

            Thanks for the assist.

I think my Betta long jump record is 6'
                    High jump is only 4"

                      My eggs arrived today.
                      Looks more like dirty water.
I put the "dirty water" in the bottom of a 1/2 gallon jar and added 10% more from my water change barrel.
I think I'm going to need a jeweler's loop just to see them when they hatch.

Shallow water to start. I float plant eater eggs in a net spawing box. Micro worms or baby brine shrimp to start. Gardneri grow fast check on the water they may come from very soft water! Dosen't mean the adults won't adjust but breeding is assured with the right softness water. Java moss is suggested as a good plant to use in killie tanks. I have it in all mine. No large tank is need - 10 gallon is great. Sponge filters are great.

Right now they are in about 2" of water in the bottom of a 1/2 gal jar.
I'm adding about 1/4 cup of Houston water daily. I have banana worms and BBS ready. when I fill the 1/2 gal jar I will move them to a 3 gal tank and keep adding Houston water. Will be some time before I get up to 10 gal.

                              It's Alive, it's ALIVE !

I think my eggs have hatched,
I have little dots swimming around in my dirty water.
Are they supposed to swim in a jerking fashion or might they be daphnia ?
