John, total cost? Shelf life at approximately 250 gallons filtered a week?

          .

no problem changing the carbon. unscrew this bushing. hook a hose up to the other end and turn the water on. blast the old carbon out into the flowerbeds.

jeebus I think at 250 gpw the carbon will last a least 5 years. I change 4x's that and I will change mine once a year. you can get the hach total or free chlorine reageants. use your test tubes from your api test kit. fill to the same 5ml mark add the reagent and if it turns pink you got chlorine. If it stays clear your carbon did it's job.

I would not buy the whole test kit. just the reagents for now. but when the chloramines show up for alot of use next year this test kit will be our best friend.

                    Hey John,

How high do you turn it on. I couldn't imagine that you could turn the water on full blast huh??

If John incorporatead a screen before the fitting that would have kept the carbon in the tube as well as allow for whatever flow he desires?

yup a screen. some of the plastic canvas cut in a circle and 1 circle of the white floss on the blue poly pads. both ends. I can turn the water on full blast.
