  • troph sits at bottom

ok well i have some trophs and 1 is just kinda laying on the bottom in the corner.

i feed a combo of NLS and ocean nutrion formula 2 and spirulina.
i did a 90% water change the other day and i think the temp of the water going in was differnt from the aquarium water. i think the new water was hotter.

i have a pack of clout but am wondering if its not a swim bladder thing. today when i fed he did not eat and there is another who looks like hes on the path to that.

my water params are about 80 degress in hard water from a chcihlid complete subsrate everything else is prob really good because i try to kee it as clean as possible but i will check soon.

    please help

          scary guy

listen to Ek and give him all the info he asks for and just maybe he can save your fish

might be nothing, but sure sounds like something at this point

hope everything turns out for the better

I would not treat with anything yet.

You mentioned that you did a water change with warm water... now is this because you used hot water from your home's water heater? If so it could be due to metals and bacteria that sit in the water heater.

For right now if you have the time do a 50% water change with straight cold water... if you are worried about the coldness you could let the faucet run for a bit to purge whats in the lines.

Add prime as soon as the drain is done and before adding tap water.

Add 1tbsp of epsom per 5g to not exceed the volume content already added.

If available I would add either a venturi to your powerheads to draw air so that it helps with surface agitation or add a few airstones and point your outputs upwards to create an aggressive ripple through the water surface.

Hold off on the feeding for today.

If possible test your pH cause holey rock and substrate do very little for pH if it's low, it's main purpose is to keep the pH from fluctuating.

How much are you feeding at those two feedings?
IIRC, you have fry which would mean they eat less per feeding but more frequently.

Also if you have not test your tap water I would refrain from the 90% water change next time and if you are having temp issues it would be another reason to back off.

as Ek said "holey rock and substrate do very little for pH if it's low, it's main purpose is to keep the pH from fluctuating." you need to test your ph "probably high" doesnt cut it. sounds like a ph crash to me.

                              Schance -

I am by no way an expert but I would go out get a High PH test kit. I don't know if Extreme has them, but i know for a fact that Dan over at HAW sells the High PH kit for around $7.00. Also, are your fish fry, juvies, or adults? You stated plumbing so I assume you have a wet/dry. Are you using anything else for surface agitation?
