  • 125g South American Set-Up

First of all, i want to say thank you to 'TwoFronts' for the awesome tank and an awesome deal on it.

This is my wife's tank, but i am in charge of setting it up, stocking it, cleaning it, water changes, feeding, etc.....but she picked the fish so its HER tank.....

This is a shot of the liner we installed. It came from Lowe's and is about $10 a sheet.

This is the tank full of H2O. The lights are Odyssea T6's from Xtreme.

Some of the occupants. We managed to nurse most of our Red's back to health but i'm still angry with Fish Gallery :furious:

This is a bad shot, but you get the picture. The tank is NOT done yet. I'm adding a few large pieces of lace rock on the sides and we are in the process of finding a few more fish. We want a Green Terror, some Eartheaters, and we will be adding our EBJD in another month or two.

Looking nice, but i agree that you need somethin on the sides. Also maybe a couple fake plants where the driftwood is (Hobby Lobby is a good place for them)

How many sheets of diffuser did you need and how many bags of sand (how wasare they per bag?)

I will be setting up a 125 once we get the stand built.

Needs a background. I'm not sure if blue or black would be best, but I would almost want to try both before I painted it on.

I like the look of simplicity of the setup (although I know it was not)

I disagree with plants on the side. If you were to add anything, maybe some low growing plants under the driftwood or moss on the driftwood. The openness works for me.

the eggcrate helps displace the weight of rocks, wood, etc. i found some really cool plants at Fish Gallery that i'm gonna get this week. i think i want to do a black background, but the blue sounds interesting. I really like the open sides, but my wife is insistant on getting some lace rock. She saw a tank at Fish Gallery that she really liked so i'm doing a larger version of it. thanks for all the tips.

The lace rock will screw up the entire display. I hate "seeing" more than one time of rock in the tank. I have holey rock and large limestone pieces in my tanks, and I try really hard to hide the holey rock. Seeing both rocks seem to make the tank look unbalanced or awkward.

Careful what plants you put in with those sevrums they plants, to eat. when I had mine I feed them lettuce to reduce the foraging on the plants. Crypts or other hard leafed plants work best. Don at Fish Gallery can help you with selection. Tank looks great,
