Just noticed this while trying to figure out the cool doohickeys Traci has given us with the new site.

Most users ever online was 91, 01-20-2009 at 09:05 PM.


Looks like not only did we get an facelift but a lot more users checking the place out!

yeah thats probably all old users having to take extra time to figure out how to do everything so it got all backed up like 5 o'clock traffic @ 610 and 45 South.

well when i normally get on the box i dont stay on too long and just check new posts , but with all this new stuff to mess with i have spent more time on . so assuming this is how others do it ,everyones time online would overlap more often and you end up with more people on at once.

We also had this info on the old site as well. But I think we were well over 100 one day there.

Hmmm... I thought everything moved over from the old server.

I know, let's bug imagirlgeek and find out. I know the server now logs me off after an hour of inactivity.

some info was brought over. The number of people logged in at one time on the old site was not one of the things transfer over.

On the old Box, the most users ever online was 207. But usually it was about 20. I have no idea what happened on the day when 207 people were logged in.

So, EK is right...more people are online at once these days. And it might be overlap like Cichlid1409 said, but I sure hope it's more than just that.

When I open up the article, journalling, and other new features I think we might be able to tell more whether people are here because they love the box, or just that they are having a hard time adjusting to the changes.

I think the 207 was about the time of the first GHAC meeting, maybe? I think more people are spending time looking around at the great new features. Is it possible we're reaching more search engines with the new format? The only thing I know for sure about SEO is that I don't really know what it is

207 users at one time on the old box was a fake... This was at a time when we where being bombarded by spoofing. I was one of the people who talked to Ken about this at the time and we figured out the reason was that several machines where pounding the box at the same time attempting to bring it down. 207 individual IP's was recorded attempting. The time "happened" to be a day when everyone else reported that they couldnt even get to the box because it was non-responsive.
I never understood why Ken never removed it, and to me it was just a date recording the last time someone attempted a "semi" organized hit on the HFB.
Sorry for adding to all the drama... btw Traci.. thanks for not bringin over that statistic.

One thing I have noticed with the new board and also moving through the last few months.. we have had a steady increase in numbers of members, more people contribute and we have started gaining members not in Houston, listing in and posting and assisting as best as possible. We have several non-Houston members who now ship fish to Houston, which a year ago when I started here... didnt happen..
I am very happy to see the board grow like we have :)

i havn't been here that long (6 months or so) but i would agree. its nice to to see new members who stick around and want to participate not just post a question or sale and never come back.
