the kind you can keep with no fish loss.they fight just dont kill each other.i think i like it better that way.le4ss money lost.what kind do you have?

For the record I only have one and it's small too. A little under 2 inches. EK, has another. His should be about .5 to an inch bigger than mine now too. His is also the BRIGHT yellow one. Mine seems a little more brownish. EK said they both look the same when they were in the same tank, but I didn't get to see them in the same tank....

However, my mtoto got his a$$ handed to him by the trophs I keep him with. They are all around the same size and I guess the petro thought he could take over. All seems well now.....until the mtoto thinks he can take over again.

According to the light internet research I got a chance to do on them, there are three "kinds" within this variant of petros. A really yellow one, a brownish one, and a really cool blue looking one. Haven't seen any other mtoto's in real life. Hope some experts could shine some light on this subject.

yeah,you dont see them very often.or at least i dont.i think they get around the same size as famulas,not positive though.i just checked back to nature guide to tang cichlids and it was vey close to the size of the famula.this is the one you got,right?

Yup that's them.....

Some call them petrochromis sp. "Gold" (where they were collected), but I have also seen them go by petrochromis sp. "yellow" (where they were collected). I believe the former is given to them by Ad Konings.....I don't know how the later came about.

m-6.3in fm-4.7 inches.at least thats what the book says.it also says they are collected between mtoto and katete.ive also seen them called moliro.kind of confusing really.i bet a colony of them would look nice though.maybe the one you have is different sex than ek has.maybe thats why the colors arent the same.

what,you talking about the orange in orange kasumbe?they get orange blotches all over them.the big guy in my colony is all orange.hes 8-9 inches. :)

these fish look 100% better now.i really got them in great shape and they are very active now.ive only had them for about a month.when i get a chance i will post update pics. :)
