  • Cleaning holey rock....?

My buddy brought me back some holey rock from a recent trip to Austin....24 pieces in all. I've been scrubbing my butt off for the last few days now....I've even started to get dish pan hands or whatever. 8O ....I've looked up online how to clean the stuff, and all of them said pressure wash (followed by some scrubbing, and then a soak in some bleach....rinse, rinse, rinse)....with no access to a pressure washer, I was wondering if a small nozzle on my hose would work....or maybe a car wash....there has got to be a better way than what I have going.

Any advise on a better way would be great!!!!

I have had decent luck running in though a hot water cycle in the dishwasher.  No soap or tabs.  I does a good job of getting inside the holes.  Just don't tell the wife.

you can also add bleach to the dishwasher, that'll help disinfect any nasties that might be present.  I would *almost* say car wash would be the next best thing, but how long would you ahve to run it on 'clean rinse' before you could be certain soaps, waxes, etc were washed out of the line??  That's why I would be very hesitant to use a car wash.  Unless you could find one that just was a water setup, no soap and stuff (don't think one like that exists though).

Or like me.. borrow someones power washer.   I had to repair the one I borrowed the last time... they where all happy when I brought it back and said I repaired it too... and they where like wow, we where about to give up and throw it out because we couldn't get it to work... $24.99 part had to be replaced on a $300 power washer... man I was like next time you want to throw it away give it first to me and let me have it...  I can borrow it again now :)

Put it all in the back of a truck and go to one of those coin car washes.....use their power hose.

I usually use the water hose with a brass nozzle and my Black & Decker power scrubber.

My son picked up a power washer that had been discarded because it went underwater in Ike.
After he took it apart, cleaned it and put it back together, it works..... boy am I impressed.

P.S.  When I clean aquarium equipment in the dishwasher, I add vinigar to the bleach..... makes it work better.

He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

how much more powerful is the spray on a pressure washer compared to say a brass nozzle on the hose? I know the brass nozzles can put out a pretty powerful stream....

Hard to say ....but I bet the difference would be significant between regular house pipe system w/brass nozzle and a motorized pressure system....maybe hundreds if not thousands of psi??

The one I used was a 2500psi power washer...  running the spray over my foot (by mistake) was not something I wanted to do a second time.
