    What kind of sand is good for a fluidized bed filter. and where can i get it  LFS, home depot?
    25g - Reef
    3.5g - Surge Tank
    10g - Ichthyophthirius multifilis breeding colony

    Maybe pool filter sand from leslies....  its pretty commonly used as a substrate.  it should be light enough to be stirred up and fluidized, but still heavy enough that it doesnt get pushed out of the filter...

    you might have to experiment with some different grades of sand to find on that works...

      ok so i already had the play sand and i scrounged up enough stuff to put it together (im no good at that patience thing) so here it is working well so far. you can see some sand on the filter pad i put on the top but thats only b/c at first i had way to much flow and it blasted sand everywhere i just have it hooked up to a power head i wasn't using and my uncle gave me the 'reactor' (thats what its labeled as) so this thing in a way cost me close to nothing. let me know what you think.
