    Just tested water params

    Just did a full water test on my Ilangi tank..... background....

    37 Ilangi's
    125g tank
    2x 100% waterchange weekly
    ~40x circulation rate/ 20x turnover rate
    18x feedings a day which is about 8tsp per day
    VitaminC once a day at 1/8tsp
    Epsom salt once a week for full tank volume
    Seachem Nourish vitamin supplement

    Here's what I got from the tests....did it twice to make sure and some with different test kits...

    TDS - 68ppm
    pH - 8.0
    KH - 10dKH
    GH - 24dGH
    Ca2+ - 100ppm
    PO3-4 - 0.0-0.25ppm
    VitC - 2ppm
    NH3 - 0ppm
    N02 - 0ppm
    N03 - 0-5ppm
    Salinity - 0ppt

    What blows me away is the TDS.....that's lower then what's measured in Fiji bottled water  8O

        What test kits you all use to get all those pieces of information ?

          API, Salifert, TDS electronic, salinity with refractometer calibrated with pinpoint fluids, pH meter from RK2 also calibrated with pinpoint fluids.

          Mostly water drop kits and a few things from the reefing days.

            ek, unless you're using RO water, I think your TDS is WAY off. Just your GH and KH are showing around 600 ppm. Add the Ca and you're up to almost 700. That sounds right if you're using local tapwater. My tapwater lab report shows 750 ppm TDS.

              Yeah, your calcium # alone should show that your meter is off.  That all contributes to the total disolved solids (TDS) in your aquarium water.  GH and KH should tell you that your meter is reading incorrectly, as well.

              Man, I never test this stuff.... maybe I should take a sample to work....... How accurate would you say the little 6-in-one strips are?

                  pH of 8.0 is actually normal....usually around 7.8-8.2pH probably the VitC dosing has something to do with it.

                  As for the TDS reading.... it is off but not by as much. My tap is reading 278-300ppms but my RO/DI water is reading 4ppms. Maybe it's something in the tank throwing it off.
