  • mignight surprise from our BP's

ok here's the question if a blood parrot and a blood parrot spawn whats the chances of them being fertile, how long will it take
for the babies to hatch. any special percaution to raising the bp's
they where two mutt bp'not the reds but like one looked like a convict mix and the other a firemouth and then the lost all color and started turning the pale red
organish color, and now the drift wood in our tank is lined with little bp eggs. what do we do. marty is flippling over the fact that this is our first non-african cichlid to spawn or breed. so any advice would be appreciated.

Ek...can they safely remove the eggs? Maybe remove the driftwood to transfer to another tank? Is that safe?

You could but IMO it's a greater reward to see the parents brood their young.

i vote for let nature take its course (at least this time), chances are, if they bred once, they will breed again and they you can try different things (you will also know by then if they are fertile), most places i have heard that two bp's can't successfully spawn, but i have personally seen two spawn in a petco until fry were freeswimming!!

I vote to snag the driftwood and save the babies.
Just my two cents. Maybe my nickel...lol.
