  • 2217 Eheim compartment diagram for media ???

I have the 2217 and wandering if the media has to be in certain order when installing it...
Starting from the bottom of the canister:

    bottom stand
    ceramic beads
    white pad
    black sponge pad
    3 blue pads
    top stand

    ceramic tubes
    white sponge pad
    coca puffs
    blue polishing pad
    purigen or chem pure pac.

Sounds like you have it right but you might want to add some carbon in there somewhere close to the top.  You just want to get finer and finer with the pads the closer to the top.

          I pack mine like this...

          Bottom crate
          Effimech Noodles
          Blue Coarse Pad
          Eheim Substrat or Substrat Pro
          White Fine Pad
          (2) Bags Chempure
          Top Crate

Lots of variations really, which makes Eheim a very functional/adaptable filter.

I am not sure if you have one of the White Eheim pads or not, but if it is then that pad needs to go on top or it will clogged alot faster than normal.

                I do mine like this

                Bottom stand/grate
                Ceramic rings
                blue coarse sponge
                ehfisubstrat pro
                black medium sponge
                fine pad
                Top stand/grate.

I do it this way so its easier to pour out in to two canisters when I clean the material.

Re: 2217 Eheim compartment diagram for media ???

My canisters all have pre-filter sponges on the intakes which get rinsed weekly, so the filters themselves are strictly for bio filtration, not mechanical filtration.

My 2217s are stacked as follows:

                  Bottom grate
                  ceramic rings
                  course sponge
                  substrat
                  top grate

The reason I keep the course sponge in the filter is to separate the rings and the substrat
