    Depends on your drain capabilities.

        Single/Dual?

You are pretty much limited by the draining capabilities of your overflow so that will be the main determining factor behind what pump to use.

            Mag12 approx gph = 1200gph

Recommended minimum drain pipe diameter = 1.43 inches
Recommended minimum linear overflow size = 18 inches

                approx. 900

I would rather under work my overflow then push it to the limits.....less heat coming from the smaller pumps and then there's the added "sleep better at night" factor.

hey i was reading over the plans of this  overflow for a non drilled tank.  it says to step up the diameter of the pipe to step up the flow.  so reaalistically i could get a 2" pvc and go monster yeah??

That would be way over kill. Unless your just going to use 1 over flow.
                          On my 180 I have 2 1.5" over flow.

                              I used a mag 12 & mag 7 on it.
The turn over was great. I just hope your fish love high currents.
