this thing gona save a couple a hours a week watching a tank drain. i've been using a mag12 with 3/4 inch hose and it's at least 4 times faster.

SWEET!  'Cause it takes about 2 hours just to do a partial on the 240...we're always looking for ways to cut that time down.

I went to Home Depot and bought 12' of 1-1/2" (inside diameter) hose and just hang it out the window and start the siphon. Drains it down in about 10 minutes.

            Re: high volume siphon

I'm using the regular python hooked up to my garden hose and the siphon caused by the water pressure is enough to drain my 125/135g 70% in about 20mins wasteful but I route the water out to the gardens....I imagine the bigger I.D. of the hose the more water it can pump out faster!

If your mag12 is going at the rate it is going I would step it up to an iwaki or external water pump.....that should dump a tank in no time! check out Mike@txtrophtrader cause he had some for sale and then there is marshreef.com too!
