  • Bumblebee Holding Update: 7/1/08 We have Fry!

Well Bigdaddy finally did it. He has been chasing, jiggling, shaking & flashing at my bumblebee female for about a month now. Looks like he finally got her attention. I noticed yesterday morning she now has a double chin. When I got home last night I had to get out the flashlight to find her. She is now hiding behind the holey rock where it's nice and dark. I didn't think she was intrested in him but I guess she gave in. Looks like Bigdaddy is going to be a pappa!

Thanks guys and gals, I was starting to think she was a he. If everything goes well she should spit around the 4th of july. Once the little guys start coming out I'll try to get some pics. This is her first spawn so I'm not sure how she's going to do. Keeping my fingers crossed.

            Congrats!!

Make sure to keep an eye on her (I'm sure you will anyway, you seem as obsessive as I am about what my fish are doing) :)  We had a case of domestic abuse in our tank when our female bumblebee was 'with fry' and it didn't end well.  Needless to say, our male bumblebee lived out the rest of his long life as a bachelor after that.

Ohhhh man don't say that. :(  I know he is still chasing her but she is staying behind the rocks out of site. She came out this morning for a few seconds while I was feeding. Then she went right back behind the rocks. I think that's the maternity ward.   This is where all my holding females go. I think I have 6 females holding right now. It must be the water.

:drinker:  Oh now now, I have a big tall glass that I'm saving just for you. I don't think guy geek would mind the splish splash of little fins around the house.   :P  Besides what's one more tank?

I am thinking what she is saying is that there isnt space for another room in the house, so therefore they would have to sell and buy a bigger home if they expanded :)

We have fry! She spit today. I see two fry zipping in and out of the holey rock. I'm not sure how many are in there or how many will survive with all those  hungry mouths in that tank. They are soooo tiny. I know they are bumblebee's because I can see thier stripes. They are just so cute! I'm hoping there are more hiding out.
