    Might have to put him down

    Well, My texas cichlid seems to be getting worse...His mouth is still stuck in the open position.. and now one of his eyes looks like it is popping out.... I have him in a bucket now... with air bubble and food.... I tried to pop his mouth back into postion.. but it is hard... I can't even force it shut.... He was real easy to catch .. so I think he may be at the end of his rope.... This fish came with the tank I bought.. he is about 3 years old and has given us 3 set of babies... he always hung around one fish (mom) now he get behind a rock and just sits there.. I am sure he is lethargic..

    If there is anyone out there who thinks they can save him.. Please speak up... I will be happy to give him to you as opposed to putting him down... He is a good fish... and we all will miss his tank antics.... PM me or call me  281-867-0678 Chuck

    I wish there was something I could do, but I am unable to help this guy, I hope someone else can, Texas cichlids are one of my favorites....sorry.

      Try hitting him hard with MaracynII and epsom salts.

        what I have researched and found he has what is called   POP EYE... the fish store gave me some anitbiotics... I have him in a sick tank... will keep an EYE OUT.. no pun intended..... Hey EK   I have him in a 5 gallon bucket.. how much salt should I give him?   and can I use aquarium salt.... is it the same?
        Had about 900 gallons now I am tired and selling them off...

          Aquarium salt is not the same as epsom but that will help as well.

          For the pop eye I have found maracynII to be the best.

            Cope get some maracynII that stuff is awesome.  The part I like it the best is that if the fish will not eat MaracynII will still do its work as long as the fish swims in it it will heal the fish.

              Is the fish bloated at all? (Other than the eye?)

                      That's too bad....you tried real hard to save him though, prob more than most...
